I had the honor of reading Kristen Jane Anderson’s book, Life In Spite of Me: Extraordinary Hope After a Fatal Choice. This book was a very compelling story about a young girls life that seemed to have no hope, no future – become something beautiful despite the attempted suicide on her life. Anderson’s life will take you on a tour of death, rape, accident scenes, psychiatric wards, and even church. But the best part of the story is that Anderson’s life ends up being a major inspiration to others who have suffered from hopelessness.

Kristen Anderson had a great life up until a series of tragic events shattered her world. From death of loved ones to being raped, she found herself spiraling deeper into a depression that would ultimately persuade her to attempt take her own life on that cool January night. The events that would take place once she laid her body across that railroad track – would not turn out the way she had hoped. Rather than her life being taken, it was spared, and she was left with no legs. The story of her recovery after the suicide attempt is one of many ups and downs – but the ultimate destination was ending up in the arms of Jesus.

This is a story of tragedy and great triumph that anyone who reads it will benefit from. Whether you are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, feeling as if life has no hope, or are just seeking a closer relationship with God, Life In Spite Of Me will help give you hope and joy in your current circumstances. It is with great joy I recommend this book!
