An Audience of One

Dear Friends,

This week my heart is overflowing!  I have seen goodness poured out in abundance in situations in my life and in the lives of those around me.  I wanted to come here to offer encouragement from the overflow in my life right now, but I couldn’t quite get it all put together.  God had a little more for my own heart as I went searching for how to tie all of this together and offer encouragement for wherever you find yourself today.  What I have to offer seems so simple, that I almost lose track of it sometimes.  I feel so blessed every time my heart remembers that our lives, our work, even the writing here on this site – it’s all for an audience of One.

An Audience of One

Maybe you’re knee-deep a job that requires a lot of your time and energy, and you’re feeling drained.  Perhaps you provide care for older family members who can’t live independently anymore, and deal with the stress that can add to your life.  Some of you might serve in the military, or be related to someone who is in the military, and know the daily struggles that holds.  You might be tired from selfless service at church or at the local school or shelter.  Maybe you’re up to your eyeballs in mommy-hood today, wondering how God saw fit to entrust these little ones (and bigger ones!) to your care.

Friends, come close.  Pull up a seat at the table, pause in your day for just a moment.  Sit and rest here, just for a little while.  If there’s one thing I’ve learned here, at this site, it’s that we need each other.  We are in this together – whether you are my next door neighbor, or a sister around the world.  We were meant for lives of community, not just to support each other, but to honor God, and call on His name together!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,  not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24,25 NIV

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
Matthew 18:19,20 ESV

I wish I could look each one of you in the eye and tell you just how much of a blessing you are to me.  I am so honored to be able to count you as a sister on this journey of life. You are so valuable and important to me!

But even more than that, you matter to God!

Whatever you are doing today, whatever your duties are, do them to the best of your ability.  Work diligently at your job, take extra-loving care of family members, be thankful for those in your life and the way you work through life together.  Parent your children not just with the idea of raising good kids, but with the intention of raising them to become great adults!  Serve, as unto the Lord, because it’s to be done in His name.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:17 ESV

It’s likely that most of us here won’t see how you manage today.  God will see how you handle today, though.  That’s not meant to scare you; it’s meant to bless your socks off!

Whatever your day holds, no matter how small or large it may seem, God is there.  You are so important to Him that He is watching the big and the little things that you do.  And He is orchestrating what happens in your life, for His glory.

Intentionally take God with you through your day.  You’ll be blessed by the extra time you spend interacting with Him.  You’ll be more open to sharing Him with others, and that is always a blessing!  You were created for a purpose, for today, for yesterday, for the people in your life, but first and foremost, for an audience of One!

Blessings!

    1. I am so blessed by your interaction on the MYB site – thanks for making sure I’m never lonely there. 😉 But really, you are a blessing every time I ask for prayer, and you have this knack for posting something encouraging at just the time I need it – I love how God works like that! Have a wonderful day, dear friend!
