A Peek Inside My Mind {10 Random Thoughts}

This week for the iHomeschool Network’s 10*in*10 blog hop we’re sharing 10 Totally Random Things On Your Mind.

We’re Blessed To Be A Blessing

I have had a lot of time to reflect on God’s goodness. The most recent blessing He gave our family was the SAFE RETURN of my husband from Afghanistan. I am in awe of God’s goodness and divine provision for my family. I am amazed at the simple fact that I grew up in poverty but my children lack nothing. I can’t help but weep thinking about His goodness. Truly we are blessed to bless others and I am so thankful for the overflow in our lives to give to others.

My Desire Is To Please You {JESUS}

My husband and I have been talking a lot lately about how good it feels to live for Jesus. In the past 14 years we have been together, both my husband and I have committed ourselves to pleasing God. Although we are imperfect, at the end of the day, we know who we serve and will never go to sleep without being in right standing with Him. In a renewed effort to please God, we have been making sure that we have more time in the Word with one another. We already read the Bible at every meal together as well as do devotionals and use the character training curriculum We Choose Virtues. However, I have begun a new Bible study for just my daughter and I. We are currently using the Grapevine Study of Esther and enjoying our time stick figuring through the Bible! And my husband and I have found a new devotional to go through together at night and are already reaping the benefits in our marriage!

How Long Will We Be Living In Germany?

This is something that we ponder often. My husband’s unit is deactivating and will be shut down by next summer. We are torn as we want to stay in Germany as long as possible, but know that there is a chance we may not be able to. I have to quiet my mind on this one as we literally have NO idea and will have to wait until the Army decides to tell us when and where (if at all) our next move will be.

Will I Be Releasing My Newest Site: “Managing Your Blessings” in October or November?

I am in the process of putting together an AMAZING team of writers for my new website that will be launching in October/November 2012. I have been praying and asking God to give me wisdom on the actual launch date. This new endeavor God laid on my heart last fall will be a site dedicated entirely to the encouragement and teaching of how to be a good steward of all God has blessed you with (ie: relationships, finances, health, education, etc…). I am so excited to see what God will be doing through His will on this site!

When Will I Get To Meet My Beautiful Niece?

My brother and my amazing sister-in-law had their first BEAUTIFUL baby, and my niece, in February. Because I live in a different country, I have yet to hold this precious baby and it hurts 🙁 I think about it often and pray about it even more, when will I meet this beautiful life in person? Looking forward to that day…

Thankful For My Photography Business Beginning To Grow!

I have loved taking photos of people well before I could spell the word: photograph. I got my first camera at the age of 4 and the love I had already inside of me was finally able to be released from behind the lens. Now, at the tender age of 36, I have finally been released to explore my love in depth with the equipment and time needed. So grateful! You can see some of my work and get a feel for my style at  Carlie Kercheval Photography.

Who Will Our First Visitor {in Germany} Be?

We have lived in Germany now for nearly a year and a half and have yet to have a visitor. It will be interesting to see who our first visitor {if anyone} will be. I know that it is not cheap to travel over here from the US but we are hopeful that at least one of our close friends and/or family members will be able to make the journey!

Really Excited To Celebrate Christmas In Germany WITH My Husband!

I know it is only July, but hey, who doesn’t dream of spending Christmas in Bavaria with their ENTIRE family? Thankful that this year he will NOT be deployed and we can go to all the amazing Christmas markets together and actually have a WHITE Christmas 🙂 Just thinking about it brings such joy to my heart 🙂

Dreaming Of Traveling Throughout Europe

Ever since we finally applied for our tourist passports {so we can legally travel outside of Germany} I am dreaming of going to Rome, England, and Greece. Don’t get me wrong, there are many other countries in Europe I’d love to explore, these just happen to be some of the TOP choices 🙂

God’s LOVE Is Everywhere

More and more I am realizing the truth in this statement. I always knew that God was everywhere and created everything, but I really didn’t understand the many manifestations of His love. Whether it be through the beauty of His creation {people, nature, animals, etc.} or the soft touch of your child’s hand, God’s love is truly all around us. I try to keep this perspective at the forefront of my days so I can keep LOVE in and anger OUT. This works beautifully for me and it allows me to hear God’s voice more clearly and be a vessel of His love anytime He needs me 🙂

  2. Carlie, I love your random thoughts. Thank you for sharing them. You sound like such a wonderful momma and wife. Your perspective on God and who is, is to be admired. Lately I have been struggling with really living that out so that my kids see it and not just hear it. Thank you for the encouragement.

    Blessings,
    Yvana

    1. Yvana,
      Bless you my sweet sister in the Lord! Thank you for the kind words. Praying you have a wonderful week ahead!

  3. I LOVE that you’re a homeschooling family and military! I grew up in the Coast Guard, which believes in transferring families every 6-18 months. We never got to live overseas, although my Dad spent 8 months in Europe once but it was on his ship. We did have two stations in Alaska, which is a different world but not like Germany would be! I have to tell you, I always wished I could be homeschooled. Back in the 70’s we never heard of anyone doing that (and it wasn’t legal in a lot of states) but changing schools was THE most traumatic part about being transferred. With that out of the way, your family has the luxury of taking the time to explore where ever you live. What a blessing! Love your Top 10 list! 🙂

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Dawn 🙂 Wow, that is a lot of moving!! Yes, we are so grateful that homeschooling has become more widely accepted. Although it is illegal for German citizens to homeschool – so we have a very small homeschool community to pull from – but God is blessing our children with friendships He has handpicked for them. Bless you!

  4. I was an army “brat” growing up and I remeber our stay in “k” town Germany. I loved Christmas in Germany. One of my most vivid memories is the Christmas markets, and putting our shoes outside our doors instead of hanging stockings. Glad you get to spend it together!
    Love your blog!

    1. Angela,
      That is wonderful that you have those nostalgic memories of Germany! I am so happy that our family is able to experience such a rich culture. Glad you stopped by!
