How to Save on Fall Weddings
Are you looking to save on your fall wedding? Sure, Summer is a great time to get married, but so is fall! A fall wedding usually has much cooler temperatures and of course, all of those gorgeous reds and oranges in nature. If you’re looking to save on your wedding, you might be a bit discouraged. It can seem impossible to save on what is such an expensive venture, but it really isn’t. Fall weddings especially have quite a few ways that you can save without too much work. These 10 ways to save on fall weddings are a great place to start!
10 Ways to Save on Fall Weddings
Find a deal on wedding attire – The great thing about fall weddings is that the weather in early fall isn’t too different than summer weddings. This means you will likely be able to save a ton on your wedding attire simply by buying used from last season or from an end of season sale at a shop like David’s Bridal. The styles won’t change enough to really matter but the cost will.
Skip the cake – When you think of fall, do you think of campfires and s’mores? A lot of people do which means you can skip the cake and instead? Have a s’mores bar! Order a small 1-2 tier cake for the “cake smash” then let your guests chow down on yummy s’mores to complete it! Here are 25 amazing s’mores recipes to help you get going.
Get help from your family – Another way to save on your wedding food? Have the family help! Does your Aunt so and so make an awesome lasagna? Ask her to make it if you buy the ingredients. Is your Grandma a cake decorating pro? See if she’ll do your wedding cake! You will be surprised at the number of family members who would be happy to help you out.
Go rustic – Fall weddings are fantastic for a rustic theme and going rustic is one of the cheapest themed weddings you can have. Use mason jars to make mason jar candles. Pair them with white Christmas lights to finish off your lighting. Make centerpieces out of a mason jar with twigs glued to the outside. Finish off with a ribbon and place a tea light inside. Use rustic looking burlap for table runners and tablecloths.
Make your own décor – Fall wedding décor is incredibly easy to make so by making your own wedding décor, you’ll save a significant amount. If you aren’t feeling crafty though, the same rules apply for fall décor as they do wedding attire. Use sites like Craigslist or a wedding classifieds site to buy used and save.
Use a recent graduate for photography – College graduations happen in May so you can very likely hire a photography graduate who is just starting out in their business for much cheaper than you can hire someone else. They will have the skills needed but may need to practice a bit more and will be able to give you a discount.
Go BBQ style for your reception – Cooler fall temps make it the perfect time for a BBQ or potluck bonfire! Instead of the cliché “fish or chicken” style menu, offer your wedding guests classic comfort food like BBQ ribs and macaroni and cheese!
Let your hair down – Skip the fancy up-do and instead, let your locks flow free. Your hair will help keep your neck warm if the temperatures are cool and you’ll save big on not having to pay a hairdresser. You can find some beautiful clips on my Lilla Rose website that can help you look fancy with minimal effort.
Go natural – Reds, oranges, greens and yellows are all around us during the fall months. Use those colors for your wedding colors and you will be able to cut down on the amount of décor you’ll need to buy.
Find the perfect location – Fall months are perfect for an outdoor wedding and those natural colors we just talked about make them absolutely beautiful! To save on your wedding location, check your local city or state parks to see if they have an area you can rent out. You will not only save on your venue, but with all of the natural beauty surrounding you, you’ll save on décor too!
