7 Reasons I go to Church Regularly

Because Jesus went to church and I have decided to follow Jesus.
Luke 4:16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

Because there are hypocrites in church.
I know many people use this excuse to not go to church but I figure it would be better if the non hypocrites would stay in church instead of leaving  every time they see a hypocrite, then the non-hypocrite to hypocrite ratio would improve and church would be a better place. This goes also for religiously flaky people and judgmental people.

Because the presence of God is there.
I know what you are thinking. “I can get into the Presence in worshipping in my room.” Yes you can. But why do we have to choose either or and not both. I love the presence of God in my room. But I also love the presence of God when I get together with other Christians at the local church.

So I don’t get weird.
One word: ACCOUNTABILITY.  I have seen many people leave the Church and all accountability and get weird, and leave sound doctrine and orthodoxy. Church keeps me safe and accountable.

A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.
Proverbs 18:1

“I am the Church!” I hear people proclaiming. No you are not the Church. And I am not the Church. WE are the Church and we need each other. I need your gift and you need my gift.

For in fact the body is not one member but many. – 1 Cor 12:14

Because the Scriptures admonish us to.

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near. –Hebrews 10:25

Because organized religion is better than unorganized religion.

Any group of people religious or secular that desires to accomplish anything on this earth must be organized. The military is an organized armed force with Generals, Captains, Lieutenants, and Privates. Places of education like Schools and Universities have presidents, principles, deans, and teachers. But when the Church gets organized with leadership and members and boards it becomes a bad thing? I don’t think so. God has set order and leaders  and giftings in His Church.

So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed. – Acts 14:23

And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. – 1 Cor 12:18

And the 7th reason that I go to the church?

I am one the Pastors at our church.  That’s right I am one if the Pastors at a church full of loving people, and hypocrites and judgmental folks and some nutty people too.  But God loves us all and as long as Jesus is in the House I will be to. There are many more reasons we should be in Church but these are my 7.
