We’re excited to share with you our favorite Advent family activities. Advent is one of our family’s favorite times of the year. Why? Because of the privilege and honor of celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. To reimagine the events that led up to this sacred, holy birth is one of the things that we look forward to each year. We always grow much closer to Christ and each other during the days leading up to our Savior’s birth.
Our Favorite Advent Family Activities
Studying God’s Word Together
Each year we study the scriptures as a family during Advent because that is where God tells us to meet Him; in His Word. The first study we do is one that will strengthen our marriage and relationship with Christ at the same time: Advent + Marriage: A Mini Reflective Bible Study for Couples.
This study is the perfect way for husband and wife to deeply connect with Jesus and each other this Christmas. Our mini-study only requires you to commit to 30-45 minutes, four times during Advent – so even the busiest couple’s can do this. The impact these four sessions will have on your marriage and relationship with God are worth their weight in gold.
Uncovering Mercies at the Manger is an amazing Advent family Bible study by our friend Kim. This study has 25 amazing lessons that will bring you, your children, and entire family closer to Jesus. This study is the perfect way to teach your children the reason we hold Christ close in our hearts.
Unwrapping the Names of Jesus: An Advent Devotional is another family favorite! We have been reading this family Advent devotional for a few years now and get something new out of it every time! If you enjoy studying and learning more about the names of Jesus in Scripture, this devotional is a must-read!
Having an Official Advent Countdown Calendar
This is an activity we have enjoyed together for over two decades. While we’ve had various countdown calendars over the years, these are our absolute favorites.
These gorgeous Christmas Countdown Cards are an amazing way to connect each day and read a verse together. Not only do these look beautiful, but they also help turn our hearts toward our beautiful Savior!
