11th Grade

Just to preface – our 15-year-old daughter (Hannah) is a young Junior in High School this year. While she is solidly working at this level of study, we are encouraging her to take her time with anything she may want to explore the next couple of years as there is no rush for her to run off to college. We are allowing her to make most of her academic choices as she has a good idea of what she wants to study in school. Hannah is currently planning to become an OBGYN which is an exciting and long journey! So without any further ado…here are Hannah’s 11th grade curriculum choices.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Windows to the World

This year we are doing several different things with Language Arts. This is the first year using IEW’s Windows to the World: An Introduction to Literary Analysis. This is a welcome addition for our bookworm’s growing love for writing.

Hannah will also be reading a lot of British Literature and working on several different creative writing projects.

Hannah will also be taking an English course at the local community college as part of her dual-enrollment. She has already earned several college credits prior to her Junior year and is excited to learn more about her favorite subject!

HISTORY

all american history

We are super excited to be using All American History Volume 1 this year from Bright Ideas Press. I’d heard from several different homeschooling families how much their high schoolers loved using this curriculum. Since Hannah is going to be studying American History this year, we decided to give it a go! Can’t wait!

SCIENCE

Hannah will be taking Biology as a dual enrollment option through a local college. She’s taken college courses before and is excited to get hands-on experience, especially with a lab!

MATH

Saxon Algebra 2

This year Hannah will be diving head-first into Saxon’s Algebra 2. Math isn’t her favorite subject so we’ve been taking our time on it over the years to make sure she is getting exactly what she needs out of it. She is actually excited about this particular subject matter so that is a good thing!

ELECTIVES

Hannah will be learning more about graphic design this year. She is already able to work in Adobe Illustrator well and will continue to learn from some online courses I purchased.

She will be taking more German language classes, too.

Swimming is on the agenda this year as well as some Karate.

All in all this is shaping up to be another fun and exciting year of learning in our homeschool! I am so thankful for the ability to homeschool our children and am excited about entering into our 12th year! Happy Homeschooling!
