My Lifelong Essential Oils Journey

I am excited to share with you a passion of mine, something that I have 40+ years experience with: essential oil usage.

For me, essential oils have been a lifelong journey beginning the moment I emerged from my mother’s womb. As a matter of fact one of my mom’s first acts as a new mother was oiling my feet with Roman Chamomile. It’s funny because even in the womb my mom told me that she could tell that Roman Chamomile calmed me and she continued using it the entire time I lived at home, right up until I left for college. And to this very day, Roman Chamomile is my go-to oil when I need to calm and relax. Neat, huh?

Did you know that Roman Chamomile is safe to use on babies? It is safe to use for teething babies and to help soothe earaches in babies. There are countless times that essential oils have come in handy during my life. I look at it like this: essential oils are like vitamins to me – I use them on a daily basis and have seen countless benefits from them. And at any point in my life that I didn’t have them handy (think POOR college student) I noticed a major difference with my allergy symptoms and restlessness.

My husband began using essential oils after I introduced him to them during our undergraduate days in college. We had gone on a short missions trip and he had a stomach ache. I gave him some ginger oil to help calm his tummy and from that moment on, he was hooked.

After our engagement my husband and I chatted extensively about using essential oils on our children. We both agreed that we’d carry on my lifelong tradition of three solid generations from Japan and use essential oils for our family. And I am so glad we agreed!

Over the years I have tried dozens of essential oil companies – from the oils my grandmother would bring home from Japan in the mid-1970’s through the early 1990’s to the local health food store to major MLM (multi-level marketing) companies. And you know what I’ve found? That most all of them work well but some are just way overpriced. Why? Because they have elaborate MLM system set in place and are motivating their “downlines” to sell so they can make the big bucks. I was a part of that system for a while with one of the major essential oil MLM’s but ended up leaving it as I don’t see the point.
