How to See Your Dream Fulfilled
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true, there is life and joy…It is pleasant to see dreams come true. ~ Proverbs 13:12, 19 (NLT)
You know the routine. The new year has arrived. You feel alive, refreshed, and renewed knowing that you have this fresh, clean slate just brimming with possibilities.
You just know that this is your year to finally see that dream in your heart fulfilled! You set your goals that are strategically aligned to bring that dream to fruition, you get off to a great start and then…life happens.
Usually by mid – to late January, many have already given up on their hastily-made resolutions or their crazy-big goals they were so excited about achieving. And consequently, they allow their dream to wither up and die.
If this has happened with you, then I want to encourage you to pick that dream up again.
You see, I firmly believe that your dreams and desires are important to God, and if you will continually seek after Him while you’re working toward those dreams, you will find and fulfill your God-given purpose in life.
Turning your dream into reality is really up to you. It will take commitment and hard work. It will take stepping out of your comfort zone. It will take breaking out of mediocrity. But when the dream that has been placed in your heart by the Lord comes true, it will bring you life and joy!
So I ask you, Are you truly prepared to do whatever it takes to see this God-given dream come to pass?
If you are serious about seeing your dream fulfilled, then I want to share four important steps with you taken from the second chapter of Habakkuk:
(1) Commune with the Lord through the Word and prayer, then listen to what He speaks within your heart.
I will stand upon my post of observation and station myself on the tower…and will watch to see what He will say within me. ~ Habakkuk 2:1 (AMP)
It is vitally important that you are completely certain that this dream is from the Lord before going all out in pursuit of it. By spending time in the Word, your mind will be transformed and renewed. And through communing with the Lord in prayer, your spirit will become fine-tuned and more sensitive to hearing the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit on the inside of you.
(2) Write down the dream the Lord gives and keep it always it before your eyes.
And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may be able to read it easily and quickly… ~ Habakkuk 2:2 (AMP)
Writing down your dream (and keeping it where you will see it on a regular basis) will keep it in the forefront of your heart and mind. It will help clarify your priorities and goals, and weed out activities and other things that don’t contribute to your dream’s fulfillment.
(3) Walk and live by faith.
…the just shall live by his faith. ~ Habakkuk 2:4 (KJV)
If you truly want to see your dream come to pass, then you will have to pursue it by faith. What does that mean? It means that you will have to believe in your heart that you receive the fulfillment of your dream no matter what the situation looks like. It means you will have to refuse to allow circumstances to discourage you and cause you to back away from the reality of your dream. And it means you will have to be like your Father God and call things that “be not” as though they were (Rom. 4:17).
(4) Practice patience.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to fulfillment; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait earnestly for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day. ~ Habakkuk 2:3 (AMP)
Time is one of the biggest thieves of fulfilled dreams and destinies. You will have plenty of opportunities to give up on seeing your dream turn into a reality. Things will get tough. You will get tired of waiting. You will get discouraged because it will look as though it will never happen. But don’t you dare quit! Just yield to the fruit of patience that already resides in you. The Bible promises us that your vision (or dream) is for an appointed time. And though it may take awhile in seeing it come to fruition, it will surely come.
The choice is yours as to whether or not you stay where you are or you do what it takes to see your God-given dream fulfilled. Don’t live your whole life knowing that you never did what the Lord called you to do. Instead, embrace your dream. Pursue your dream. Do whatever it takes to make it a reality.
God gave you that dream for a purpose, and even though it may be a long time coming, it will surely come!
I just found your website from Pinterest and love it. Thanks for this post…I just embarked on a new “dream” so the timing was ordained.
That’s wonderful, Renee! Standing in faith with you to see that new dream fulfilled! Blessings!
Alisha,
Thank you for this and for sharing the verses from Habakkuk! It can be hard to wait, but we can trust God that His timing is the best! And, while we wait, we can work toward our goals and dreams.
Blessings, Joan
Yes, Joan, you are right — His timing is always best. And in the process of seeing our dream fulfilled, we *get* to develop our faith & patience which is more precious than gold (1 Pet.1:7). Blessings to you!
