Best Online Business Tools for Mom Bloggers
Today I am excited to share with you what I consider to be the best online business tools for mom bloggers. I wholeheartedly believe that any of the tools I share with you today will give you a stronger and more professional web presence no matter what level of income you are at in the blogging world.
Why should you believe me?
Let me give you some background on why I believe I have the authority to talk to you about this. I built my first website with my husband (who was only my fiancé at the time) in 1998. We did this the old fashioned way, 100% HTML coding, no templates and no themes. It was hard work, but we loved it. We knew we had stumbled onto something but had no idea just how things would evolve in the nearly two decades to follow.
We began our first ecommerce website in 2001 selling gift items and it fizzled out rather quickly. This was when things were starting to change and words like SEO, social media, and “blog” were beginning to surface. And because we didn’t know anything about any of these new trends (and didn’t have the time or resources to pursue it), our first ecommerce site tanked and we closed up shop.
It wasn’t until 2011 that I picked up the online business torch again but with a desire to learn all I could. By the end of the summer of 2011, just two short months after I started my first public blog, I was already making $1,500 a month. And I as I continued to learn and apply what I’d learned my income began to soar. I was only able to work part-time for the first 4 1/2 years but had months grossing as high as $23,000. And today I am looking to double my highest grossing months by the end of the year.
What was the difference?
Simply put: knowledge and vital online business tools I invest in to help me keep my online presence going strong. Below I am going to share with you some of the best online business tools for mom bloggers – I’d even go as far as calling them vital tools for reaching real success as a professional blogger. And of course a lot of hard work!
The Best Online Business Tools for Mom Bloggers
Blogging Education
The truth is, if you don’t invest in your education, you will only get so far. Sure, some people (less than 1%) stumble into some dumb luck and blow up overnight. But that is not something you can rely on – but having the education will help you on the road to real success with your blog.
The Elite Blog Academy course will teach you everything you need to know in order to take your blog from zero to full-time income. I really believe one of the strengths of this course is that the founder, Ruth Soukup, has done all the hard work and research to earn a 7-figure income all on her own. She is brilliant and driven and give you the tools you need (without withholding information) to become a full-time blogger, too. I’ve taken many blogging courses, but this by far is my favorite, and it is worth it’s weight in GOLD!
Conversions + Leads
If you are ready to turn your leads into paying customers, Leadpages is a MUST HAVE. Once we invested in Leadpages our revenue grew by over 300% in just under 90 days. We continue to steadily convert traffic into leads which then become customers simply by using this powerful, common sense tool.
SEO/Keyword
Jaxxy – I have used several keyword tools over the years and none of them have performed as well as Jaaxy. Not only is Jaaxy comprehensive and reliable but it is really easy to use. Keywords are a vital part of success online and having a tool that can give you the data you need is invaluable.
You can try it out here:
Social Media Schedulers
Tailwind – This is another great pinning tool if you are aren’t as interested in strategy but being able to save time on pinning.
Post Planner – This app shows you top performing content for any social account, hashtag or topic — all ranked by virality, so you can confidently predict engagement. It helps grow your social media engagement and numbers by allowing you to find the best content for your tribe!
Co-Schedule – has many time saving features you run directly from the backend of your WP blog to include:
- marketing calendar
- social media scheduling
- workflow management
- wordpress
- Google docs
- Evernote
- Chrome Extension
- and more!
Hootsuite – this social media scheduler has many things to help you gain more engagement and increase community and productivity.
Email Service Providers
Another important tool that helps successful mom bloggers is their email service provider. When I first started off 8 years ago, I was using a free service called Feedburner. But as my list quickly grew, I knew I needed to customize my emails and become more familiar with my readership.
If you are serious about making money with your blog, I highly recommend signing up for ConvertKit.
Here are some of the key benefits that we are seeing since we switched to ConvertKit:
- higher subscriber conversion rates
- higher deliverability rates (meaning our emails are not going to spam folders, they are making it directly into inboxes)
- higher open rates
- higher click-through rates
I would also like to give a shout out to MadMimi as that is the first paid subscription we had. It is great for those who do not have a lot of things to sell and aren’t at the phase of higher conversion rates being a huge priority (but believe me, eventually it will be, so I’d highly recommend starting with ConvertKit regardless).
Something Wonderful About Paid Blogging Tools
They are 100% tax deductible! That’s right! I love that I can write these expenses off while I am still building my business and making more and more revenue! Have blogger tax questions? Here is a blog post to help!
I hope these tools will help many of you who are looking to increase income and productivity to take your blog to professional status!
